Announcement: EV Infrastructure Planning Group (EVIPG) now forming
Meeting set for January 28, 7:00pm
The City of Greenbelt’s GREEN TEAM has begun an effort, along with members of the City’s Advisory Planning Board (APB) and Greenbelt Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability (Green ACES), to propose a standard and plan for development of electric vehicle (EV) fueling infrastructure in Greenbelt. Interested residents are invited to join a virtual meeting to be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 7:00pm. (Internet link to join meeting given below)
A preliminary agenda for this meeting is as follows:
- Welcome and introductions
- Purpose and charge of the proposed EV Infrastructure Planning Group (EVIPG)
- Schedule for submission of report and recommendations to City Council
- Summary review of current EV infrastructure (current and planned) in Greenbelt
- Discussion: Possible items to research/pursue
- Collaboration issues to consider for City advisory boards and committees
- Needs projection: Growth of personal EV’s in general use (time frame?), and how to assess/project future EV infrastructure needs in public space and in residential space
- Needs projection: Commercial EV adoption (trucks, vans, buses) and infrastructure needs for larger vehicles (again, time frame?)
- Legal and code requirements for EV infrastructure in public space
- Legal and code requirements for EV infrastructure on private property
- Electric utilities: EV fueling and renewable vs. traditional energy resources
- Other issues TBD
- Next steps
- Action items -- what and who?
