Where do I get paper yard waste bags?

Local grocery and hardware stores carry paper yard waste bags.
May I take items directly to the landfill?

Prince George's County offers residents the opportunity to dispose of refuse and special trash at the Brown Station Road Landfill in Upper Marlboro at no charge. Household hazardous waste and electronics for recycling may also be taken here. You must be able to show proof of residency in Prince George's County. For further information, hours and days, call the Brown Station Landfill at 301-883-5045.
Do my refuse containers require lids?

Residents are reminded that all trash containers must be equipped with a tightly fitting lid. All trash must also be in a tied bag before being placed in a trash can (city code, section 17-42, 43).
What do I do with my old computer and electronic equipment?

The City of Greenbelt holds quarterly electronics recycling events where you can recycle all of your old computer equipment, televisions, electronics, game systems, and more.
Where are the 24 hour recycling centers and what can I recycle there?

The City of Greenbelt provides two self service, 24-hour recycling centers. One is located off of the parking lot to Buddy Attick Park, 555 Crescent Road and the other off of Hanover Parkway across from the Dog Park. Visit our Recycling Centers page for more information.
What time should I have my trash and recycling out?

The collectors begin their routes at 7 a.m. each morning. Make sure you have your bin and all your mixed paper set out for collection before 7 a.m.

On Code Red days, your refuse and recycling should be set out by 6am.
Can I get a new recycling bin?

If the City of Greenbelt directly services your home for trash and recycling, you are provided one recycling bin. Call 301-474-8308 if you need a new one.

If the City of Greenbelt does not service you directly, you can still pick up a recycling bin at the Public Works building located at 555 Crescent Road at a cost (currently $8 and subject to change).
