The Public Information Office (PIO) and the Community Action Team (CAT) work closely to ensure the people and businesses of Greenbelt have access to information and services offered by the Greenbelt Police Department (GPD).
The Community Action Team was established on February 23, 2022, to dedicate a squad of officers to proactive community policing initiatives within the city. This unit is tasked with building and maintaining relationships with schools and businesses and serve as the first point of contact for special event requests. The Community Action Team currently consists of a supervisor and three officers. The School Resource Officer and Franklin Park Liaison Officer are members of CAT.
If you have a request for GPD attendance at a community event, or for GPD to host an event, please contact the CAT supervisor, MPO Rakibur Rahman at rrahman@greenbeltmd.gov.
The Public Information Officer is responsible for publishing information to the community and media regarding police activity. You can reach the PIO at 240-542-2116.
