Amy Knesal 2.2024

Amy Knesel, a proud resident of Greenbelt since 2014 and Maryland native, has called Prince George's County home for over two decades years.
Knesel believes strongly in the power of community, and actively nurtures connections wherever she goes. She raises three lively kids and one energetic rescue pup alongside her husband Erik, a PGCPS middle school teacher, in a small home within the Greenbelt Homes Inc. (GHI) housing cooperative.
After a pause from paid employment to focus on raising her children, Knesel reentered the workforce in 2017 as Office Manager at Greenbelt Cinema. There, she not only handled administrative tasks but also cultivated meaningful relationships with patrons, colleagues, and community members. In 2023, she transitioned to an operations role at From Scratch Fundraising (a Greenbelt-based, woman-owned small business), where she collaborates with emerging nonprofits to craft and execute effective fundraising strategies.
Throughout her time in Greenbelt, Knesel has been deeply involved in volunteer work within the City. She's served on the Executive Board of the Greenbelt Labor Day Committee, coached with Greenbelt Soccer Alliance, led Girl Scout troops, and supported various other organizations (including local PTA and parent groups, Scout troops, and GHI working groups).
A graduate of Montgomery College and student of University of Maryland and UMD Global Campus, Knesel recognizes the value of alternative educational pathways and workforce development initiatives. As a working parent and devoted community member, she cherishes the opportunity to contribute to Council, and continue her service to Greenbelt.
