Announcing Firefly Viewing

Come to the Greenbelt Firefly Sanctuary and watch the beautiful, mystical fireflies put on their annual show,.  Bring a camp chair and relax under the stars. On two Saturdays, July 10th and 17th, anytime from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. you can learn about fireflies and their habitats from a Sanctuary Committee member.  

The Sanctuary is located in the Stream Valley Park. To get there, park in the St. Hugh’s School parking lot, walk across Crescent Road (being sure to push the button for the pedestrian-crossing light first, for visibility), and follow the lighted path up to the Sanctuary. Or you can enter the path from the opposite direction, through the pedestrian tunnel under Hillside Road, which also is lit at night.  

Water will be available, and you won’t be bombarded by cicadas – they’ll be gone by the time these two events take place.
