Artful Afternoon Extravaganza

Explore some of the venues and organizations that make historic Greenbelt a cultural hub!

 At the Greenbelt Community Center, 15 Crescent Road:

Art Studio Open House and Sale: 1-4 pm. Connect with local creatives in a sociable and inspiring atmosphere. Shop for unique fine arts and functional wares, or commission that special piece! Tour the studios of the Center's eight Artists in Residence, and mingle with additional instructors and community artists. 

Art Gallery exhibition featuring sculpture by Artemis Herber, 1-4pm.

Tour the Greenbelt Access Television production studio, 1-4pm

Ukulele serenade*: 1-2 pm. Led by instructor and Artist in Residence Rachel Ann Cross.

Vertical Visons ceramic sculpture exhibit*: 1-4 pm. Artwork by Greenbelt Pottery Group members. Reception: 3-4pm.

Vertical Visions hands-on mini-sculpture activity*: 1-3 pm. All ages. FREE!

* On the front lawn, or in the Ground Floor East in case of rain (enter by the flag pole).

Participating nearby venues:

The Greenbelt Museum, (historic house museum), 10B Crescent Road. Halloween open house, 1-5 pm. Come see our not-too-spooky collection of vintage Halloween decorations from paper cutouts of scarecrows and skulls to lit up plastic pumpkins from the 60s and 70s! No preregistration required. Our pop-up gift shop will be open, too!

The Greenbelt Arts Center (black box theater and lobby gallery), 123 Centerway. Open house 1-4 pm. 

Greenbelt Cinema (aka the Old Greenbelt Theatre; cinema and media lab), 129 Centerway. Open house 1-2 pm. 

The New Deal Cafe (live music and art show venue), 113 Centerway. Open house 1-4pm. Art show reception 1-3 pm. Free painting activity, 1-4pm. 

The Greenbelt MakerSpace, 115 Centerway (the Granite Building). Open house 1-4pm. Visit the cooperative tool lending library and try out some of our hand tools. 

The Greenbelt Aquatic and Fitness Center (outdoors - side facing Roosevelt Center.) 101 Centerway. Observe a ceramic raku firing - the modern version of a centuries-old Japanese technique! 1pm - approximately 4pm.
