From Twilight to Sunshine: Maryland LGBTQ+ History in the Library
Wednesday, October 25
Greenbelt Branch Library
6-7:30 pm
Learn about the resources that Pratt Library has and how librarians there can help support anyone who have an interest in LGBTQ+ history, culture, and pretty much any topic related to the LGBTQ+ Community!
For the past few years, librarians at the Enoch Pratt Free Library have worked on researching and presenting the history of LGBTQ+ people in Maryland. Looking at newspapers and other resources, stories of people living outside the norms of gender and sexuality can be found as far back as the 1830s. With lesbian multimillionaires, trans outlaws, 1930s drag balls, and more, the past is much less straight and narrow than you may think! Hear about this fascinating and fabulous history from Pratt librarians and LGBTQ+ elders and see if you can recognize a part of yourself in these characters from our shared past. Learn about the resources that Pratt Library has and how librarians there can help support anyone who have an interest in LGBTQ+ history, culture, and pretty much any topic related to the LGBTQ+ Community!
