Do you think you have what it takes to be a hero to homeless pets? If so, we encourage you to attend The Greenbelt Animal Shelter's new volunteer orientation on Saturday, February 24, from 4- 6:00 p.m. at 550 Crescent Rd in the Greenbelt Police Department's conference room. Requirements for new volunteers are:

1. Must be at least 18 years old - sorry, no exceptions, even if accompanied by a parent/guardian.

2. Must be willing to commit to a minimum of 8 hours per month for at least 6 consecutive months.

3. Be able to pass a criminal background check. A background check payment of $20 must be paid by the volunteer.

4. Have access to a computer or smartphone to receive pertinent email updates and communication and to manage your volunteer schedule.

5. Understand that some volunteer positions require more physical and animal-handling capabilities and will have additional requirements.

6. Commit to treating all animals and people with respect and kindness!
