Early Voting Starts May 2nd

Dear Prince Georgians:

As the 2024 primary election approaches, we wanted to take an opportunity to share some important information regarding voting. The primary election will be held on Tuesday, May 14, with early voting from Thursday, May 2 through Thursday, May 9.

Residents who would like to take advantage of early voting can do so at any early voting center in the County from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, including Saturday and Sunday. If you are voting in-person on Election Day, polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. All voters that are in line by 8:00 PM will be eligible to vote. Remember that you must vote at your assigned polling location on Election Day. To locate an early voting center near you or to find your assigned polling location, please visit the Board of Elections website here, or contact their office at 301-341-7300.

While residents can vote in-person, we are also encouraging residents to vote by mail. The deadline to apply for a vote by mail ballot is Tuesday, May 7, and the deadline to apply for an electronic vote by mail ballot is Friday, May 10. Residents who are voting by mail can submit your completed ballot in any of the 39 safe and convenient drop boxes that will be available throughout the County until 8:00 PM on Election Day. Please be sure to sign the oath on the return envelope before submitting your ballot. You can view the list of drop box locations here to find the drop box nearest you.

If you are eligible to vote, but not registered, you may register on Election Day if you meet the criteria for Same Day Registration. To register on Election Day, you must present a MVA-issued driver’s license or identification card. Residents can check the status of their voter registration by visiting the Board of Elections website here.

As the election approaches, we encourage all Prince Georgians to be Proud to Vote during this election season. We encourage you to take a friend, family member, or coworker with you to the polls and make your voices heard. For more information on the primary election, how to register to vote, and the vote by mail process, contact the Board of Elections at 301-341-7300 or visit their website here.

Yours in service,

Angela Alsobrooks
Prince George’s County Executive
