The Greenbelt Animal Shelter, situated behind the Greenbelt Police Department at 550 Crescent Rd in Greenbelt, MD, is set to reopen its doors after a four-year hiatus. Starting May 25th, 2024, we'll be open for walk-ins every Saturday from 11 AM to 3 PM.

Our small animal shelter, measuring approximately 900 square feet, can accommodate up to six dogs, 15 cats, and occasionally small animals. The city of Greenbelt is the only municipality in Prince George's County that operates its own animal shelter and adoption program. We take great pride in treating all our animals ethically and humanely.

During our convenient open hours, visitors can see and apply to adopt animals, access our free pet food pantry, schedule pet microchip appointments for just $5, apply for dog park permits, and more. We strive to make your experience with us as easy and enjoyable as possible.
