Purpose

Interprets Chapter 2 “Administration” Article IV “Public Ethics” of the Greenbelt City Code and advises persons subject to this article regarding its application; hears and decides, with the advice of the city solicitor or other legal counsel if appropriate, all complaints filed regarding alleged violations of this article by any person; and certifies to the State Ethics Commission on or before October 1 of each year that the City of Greenbelt is in compliance with the requirements of State Government Article, Title 15, Subtitle 8, Annotated Code of Maryland, for elected local officials.

Special Conditions

The City Code requires that each member of the Ethics Commission file a financial disclosure statement (on a form provided by the City Clerk) at the time of appointment. During each subsequent year of each board member’s term of appointment, the individual must submit an annual statement to the City Clerk by April 30 for the preceding calendar year
