Purpose
The purpose of the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee is to:
- Make recommendations to the City Council on matters of interest to senior citizens residing in the City of Greenbelt, including:
- Areas of physical and mental health and well-being
- Recreational, social, and cultural needs
- Housing
- Financial security
- Transportation
- Care giving
- Publicize and conduct at least one public forum per year to solicit information on senior programs, problems, and desires.
- Increase citizen awareness of problems faced by older citizens and encourage participation by religious and other groups in senior citizen programs and activities.
- Conduct an annual review of ongoing city programs in coordination with the city’s budget cycle.
