Greenbelt Residents and Recreation programs ONLY

Greenbelt Recreation has two different financial aid programs in order to make sure that all residents get the opportunity to participate in their many programs.

Financial Assistance

(Greenbelt Residents and Recreation programs Only)

The City of Greenbelt, an inclusive community, recognizes the fact that some residents may require financial assistance in order to participate in certain recreational activities that are offered through Greenbelt Recreation. As a result, the Financial Assistance program is available to provide eligible Greenbelt Residents access to participate in our programs at a reduced fee.

Greenbelt Residents must provide proof of residency as required. A Maryland Identification Card, Maryland Driver's License, MVA change of address card, or a current signed lease are acceptable forms.

The Financial Assistance Application was designed to help us determine your eligibility and the best possible solution to meet your specific needs. Please complete and submit the form and documents using the on-line application. If for some reason, you can not use the on-line form, print out this pdf form, fill out and return to: Greenbelt Recreation, 25 Crescent Road, Greenbelt, MD 20770.

Regardless of your income, there are opportunities to participate. Please make sure to read the Financial Assistance Application Requirements before applying.

IRS Return Transcript (for most recent tax year).

Note: If you did not file taxes in the most recent tax year, you must instead submit the Verification of Non-Filing to verify that no transcript exists.

Mary Purcell Geiger Scholarship Fund

The Mary Purcell Geiger Scholarship Fund supports partial financial assistance for Greenbelt residents of any age who are interested in participating in Greenbelt Recreation visual arts, performing arts, and senior programs. Assistance is available on a limited basis according to need.

Individuals who have not yet received scholarship assistance during the current program year will be given priority status in the awarding of support. Otherwise, assistance will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note: funds cannot be applied to the cost of PG Community College (SAGE) classes, camps (for which separate scholarship assistance is available), courses offered by independent individuals and organizations, or programs costing less than the minimum required patron contribution.

To apply, please fill out the Online Application Form.
