Dear Interested Stakeholder,
On behalf of the US Department of Treasury (Treasury), the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, hereby announces that the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Construction and Operation of a Currency Production Facility within the National Capital Region (Proposed Action) is available for a 30-day day public review period that begins on June 4, 2021 and ends on July 6, 2021.
Treasury and USACE prepared the Final EIS in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). The Final EIS analyzes the potential environmental and socioeconomic impacts of the Proposed Action. A Notice of Availability (NOA) for the Final EIS was published in the Federal Register on June 4, 2021. A stakeholder letter is attached to this message for further information.
Printed copies of the Final EIS and supporting documents are available at the Puente Library at Capitol Technology University and the Thurgood Marshall Library at Bowie State University until July 6, 2021, or you may review the documents online at https://www.nab.usace.army.mil/Home/BEP-Replacement-Project/. Treasury has also prepared a Spanish-language Executive Summary of the Final EIS, which is available at the libraries and on the project website. If you cannot access the materials online or at the libraries, you may request hard copies of the materials via the contact information provided below.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) Replacement Currency Production Facility team would like to notify you that the recording of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) public webinar, which took place on December 2, 2020 at 6pm – 8pm, is now available on the project website (https://www.nab.usace.army.mil/Home/BEP-Replacement-Project/) for anyone who was unable to attend or for anyone who would like to review the information provided.
Public webinar meeting materials and the Draft EIS can be viewed and downloaded from the project website (link provided above). Requests for a printed or electronic copy of the Draft EIS should be sent to this email (BEP-EIS@usace.army.mil) or to the postal address provided below.
As a reminder, stakeholders may submit written comments on the Draft EIS at any time during the 45-day public comment period (which began on November 6, 2020 and runs through December 21, 2020) by mail or email, or on the project website. A comment form is available for download at the project website provided above. Completed comment forms can be submitted as an email attachment to BEP-EIS@usace.army.mil, or mailed via US Postal Service to:

The U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing is looking into a 100-acre parcel on the USDA’s Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) in Prince George’s County, Maryland, as a possible site for the construction of a smaller, more efficient production facility. View their Press Release here.
